Lone Star Ticks

Amblyomma americanum (Linnaeus)

The tick used to be classified as a nuisance only and not a threat because it did not transmit the bacteria that could cause Lyme disease however studies from the University of Florida, Entomology and Nematology Dept. have shown that this tick can transmit other disease producing agents to humans and other animals such as those that cause ehrlichiosis, rickettsiosis, tularemia, and theileriosis. These ticks attack humans more often than any other tick species. Their bites like other tick bites will usually result in a circular rash among other symptoms. It is imperative to begin removal of the tick immediately.

Regular preventative flea & tick management is an important component for pet owners.

Be sure to have flea & tick control to avoid any disease health issues or infestations
