Crazy Ants
Paratrechina longicornis (Latreille) (Also referred to as the Caribbean Crazy Ant.)
Crazy ants named for their quick, unpredictable foraging style; when observed they appear to move about in an uncontrolled and hurried state almost frantic. Certainly one would described this behavior as crazy; hence the name. This ant is very well known here; commonly enters when it’s cold out and after rainfall because both conditions reduce their food supply. Once inside they feed primarily on live or dead insects, crumbs and anything available. They are small and have an insatiable attraction to electronics, they are considered a nuisance.
